Music and theatre associations
Many Schiedammers are active in amateur associations. Drum bands, theatre associations, choirs and orchestras all with a wide repertoire hold concerts and performances throughout the year both in and out of the city’s boundaries.

Adencia Twirl & Majorette Vereniging

Adencia is the first majorette association of Schiedam. Signing up is already possible from 4 years, and we also have a separate group for ladies above the age of 20 years.
Apollo Toneel
The active amateur theatre association Apollo Toneel (Apollo Theater) annually performs one to three plays in which most of the 20-25 members perform. Both classical and modern plays are performed, always under the direction of a professional director.
CMV Harpe Davids-Schiedam
Music association Harpe Davids has a number of sections, such as the recorder section, the student B orchestra, in which you can perform after only a few months of lessons, a drum fanfare, an harmonic orchestra and majorette teams ‘The Yellow Rainbows’.
Femmes Vocales
The ladies choir Femmes Vocales sings a wide repertoire of styles, from classical to spiritual and modern works.
Gospelkoor The New Life Singers
The New Life Singers Gospel Choir is split into sopranos, mezzo-sopranos, altos, tenors and basses and collaborates in concerts, church services and singing nights in hospitals and nursing homes.
Gregoriaans koor In Honorem Dei
In Honorem Dei is a choir that has been performing every week for 130 years in the eucharist in the Basilica of the Holy Liduina and OLV Rozenkrans (OLV Rosary). Their performances include Latin songs, Latin harmonic masses, motets and the Gregorian proprium hymns.
Harmonie Ambrosius
Harmonie Ambrosius is a relatively small orchestra which sees making good music as being a fun pastime. This association was set up in 1893.
K.S.M. Orpheus
Koninklijke Schiedams Mannenkoor Orpheus (Royal Schiedams Male Choir Orpheus) consists of around 50 members and performs at various events and activities both within and outside of Schiedam.
Mandoline Orkest Oni
ONI is the oldest mandolin orchestra in the Netherlands and is conducted by Cor Roozendaal. ONI’s repertoire consists primarily of light classical music, though modern works are also on the lesson agenda.
Muziekcentrum OpMaat

Music Centre OpMaat offers music lessons for the young and old, jazz and pop and short workshops throughout the year.
Muziekvereniging de Rolantino's
De Rolantinos is an orchestra which only consists of people with a disability. The group was formed at the Annelies Music School of Schiedam. De Rolantinos gives a number of concerts every year both within and outside of Schiedam.
Muziekvereniging St. Radboud
Music Association St. Radboud consists of an harmonic orchestra, a student orchestra and a the Proms Choir Schiedam. Sint Radboud was champion of the province of South Holland several times over and was once champion of the Netherlands. The orchestra and choir regularly display their talents during special concerts and events.
Orkestvereniging Wilton
Since establishment nearly 85 years ago, Wilton Orchestra Association has grown to become an association which welcomes everybody who enjoys performing music at a qualitatively high level.
Rijnmondband
The Rijnmondband (Rijnmond band) is a drum fanfare with 55 enthousiastic members who enjoy making top level music together, and who perform at various events. The band is made up of a percussion section, trumpets, alto horns, baritones, trombones and sousaphones.
Schiedams Shantykoor Stuurloos
Shantykoor Stuurloos’ (‘Out of Control’ Shanty Choir) repertoire consists of Dutch medleys and sailors’ songs, though also English shanties. The songs tell of everything that affects the life of a sailor, such as his ship, heavy storms, drunkenness and of course, the women.
Sint Anthonisgilde der Zakkendragers
The volunteers of the Anthonis Guild honour the tradition of the sack carriers. The guild offers a peek into the live of the 18th century port labourers through a live reconstruction of history. The guild presently consists of eight volunteers. The Anthonis Guild is the only guild in Europe which practices the tradition of sack carriers.
Stichting Intorno Ensemble
Intorno Ensemble Foundation performs opera and musical theatre in a very original manner. Performances for schools, (local)theatre, concert hall, playhouse and on location.
Stichting Schat Producties
Stichting Schat Producties (Treasure Productions Foundation) has organised six large outdoor productions since 1988, with spectacular use of unique historical locations in Schiedam. The beautiful locations in the city formed the backdrop for the spectacle.
Toonkunstkoor Schiedam
Toonkunstkoor Schiedam (Musical Choir Schiedam) is a mixed choir, which strives to perform works from a classical repertoire at a high amateur level. During these performances the choir performs works by Bach, Pärt (Magnificat), Purcell, Rheinberher and Schütz.
